Akshar A2 Gir Cow Ghee?

If you have any other questions not covered here, please contact us. We’re here to help educate and assist you in any way on your journey to a healthier lifestyle with Akshar ghee.

A2 ghee is ghee made from the milk containing the A2 beta-casein protein (typically found in indigenous cow breeds like Gir). Regular ghee in the market often comes from crossbred or foreign breeds that produce A1 type milk. The difference is in the protein structure: A2 is considered easier to digest and more aligned with our traditional diet. People consuming A2 ghee often report better digestion and no bloating compared to commercial ghee. With Akshar, you are getting ghee from pure Gir cow A2 milk, ensuring these benefits. Additionally, our ghee is made by the bilona method, which sets it apart from industrial ghee which might be made from cream or butter oil directly.

Certainly! The bilona method is the traditional way of making ghee. In simple terms, we first turn the milk into curd (yogurt) by fermenting it. Then we churn that curd with a wooden churner to extract butter. Finally, we simmer the butter on a low flame to get ghee. This process is slower but it preserves more nutrients and gives a rich taste to the ghee. It’s the way our ancestors made ghee at home. So bilona ghee is basically cultured ghee (from curd) as opposed to direct cream ghee. We have a whole section above (“The Bilona Process”) detailing the steps, if you’d like to read more.

We understand ₹3,000 per jar is a premium price, and we’d love to explain why. First, the yield: it takes roughly 30 liters of pure Gir cow milk to make just 1 liter of our ghee. High-quality A2 milk itself is costly and limited in supply. Second, the bilona method is labor-intensive – from hand-churning to slow cooking, it’s all done in small batches, not mass-produced in a factory. This time-honored process results in superior quality but at a higher cost than industrial methods. Third, we ensure ethical practices (caring for cows, no shortcuts with ingredients) and rigorous quality testing. All these factors add to the cost. In return, you get uncompromised purity, taste, and health benefits. Think of it as an investment in your health. Many of our customers say it’s worth every rupee once they experience the difference!

Ghee is one of those wonderful products that don’t need refrigeration. In fact, traditionally, ghee was stored in clay pots at room temperature. Simply keep your Akshar ghee jar in a cool, dry place (like a pantry shelf). Ensure the lid is tightly closed after each use. Use only a clean, dry spoon to take ghee out (no water should enter the jar, as moisture can spoil the ghee over time). If kept well, our ghee stays good for at least 12 months. Over time, you might see it granulate or change texture slightly – that’s normal for pure ghee. It actually matures with time, and some even prefer the aroma of well-aged ghee.

Yes, quality is our top priority. Our ghee is produced in an FSSAI-licensed facility (meeting all food safety standards). We also get each batch tested by a NABL-accredited lab for purity and nutritional content. The lab reports confirm that Akshar ghee is almost 100% pure fat, with no adulteration – for example, 0% sugar, 0% protein, and only ~0.12% moisture. (These values indicate there’s no mixing of anything else – just pure ghee.) We’re happy to share our latest lab test report if you’d like to see it. This transparency is our way of assuring you that you’re getting the real deal.

Absolutely. Our ghee is in fact inspired by Ayurvedic principles. Because we use the traditional bilona process, the ghee is considered satvik (pure and energetically positive) – ideal for Ayurvedic cooking and rituals. It contains no additives or preservatives that would violate Ayurvedic dietary rules. Ghee is used in Ayurveda for oleation therapy, in cooking, and as a carrier for herbs. While ours is not a medicated ghee, its high quality makes it a perfect fit for anyone following an Ayurvedic or holistic health lifestyle. Many Ayurveda practitioners keep Akshar ghee as their preferred choice for ghee therapy or daily consumption.

In most cases, yes. Ghee has the milk solids removed, so it contains only trace amounts of lactose and casein (the milk sugar and protein that cause intolerance). Our A2 ghee, being exceptionally pure, has been lab-tested to have no detectable lactose. Many of our lactose-intolerant customers report that they consume Akshar ghee without any problem. It’s always wise to start with a small quantity to ensure your body is okay with it, but generally ghee is considered safe for the lactose intolerant. If you have a dairy allergy (which is different from intolerance), please consult your doctor.

Ghee, like any other food, should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. For a healthy adult with no underlying conditions, 1-2 teaspoons of ghee per day is usually recommended by nutritionists. This could be used in cooking or taken straight (for example, one teaspoon in warm water in the morning). If you have a heavy physical routine or are trying to gain weight, you might consume a bit more. Always balance your ghee intake with your overall diet’s needs. Because Akshar ghee is so flavorful and potent, a little goes a long way. It’s not about eating a lot of ghee; it’s about eating a quality ghee and reaping its benefits.
